Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy Are Common

Pregnancy can bring many uncomfortable moments, and hemorrhoids during pregnancy can add to the discomfort of any pregnant woman. Many millions are affected by hemorrhoids and hemorrhoids during pregnancy are quite common. Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in the area of the anus. The swelling makes the vessels bulge to different degrees. These hemorrhoids during pregnancy can just be an itchy feeling or these hemorrhoids during pregnancy can be very painful. Often hemorrhoids during pregnancy like hemorrhoids in all people cause bleeding from the rectum where the hemorrhoids are located. Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are often a first time occurrence for women that are affected by hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids during pregnancy could develop during labor for the first time. The hemorrhoids during pregnancy are due to the growing fetus in the uterus which puts pressure on the blood vessels. Those affected in the area of the anus are the ones that cause the hemorrhoids. The swelling that affects other blood vessels is usually called varicose veins. Pregnant women often experience constipation, and this is often the cause of hemorrhoids in pregnancy. This constipation results in straining while in the bathroom, and this contributes to hemorrhoids during pregnancy.

Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy Can Be Alleviated

Although pregnant women will be affected by this painful condition, they can find relief. First of all, they should consult with their doctor on their routine visits, but they can also try some home treatments that will help. The pregnant woman with painful hemorrhoids should try a sitz bath by sitting in a warm bath several times a day for at least ten minutes. Pregnant women should also try to apply ice packs to the affected area several times during the day for about ten minutes. Heat applied the same way may lessen the pain from hemorrhoids.

Pregnant women should also try to avoid straining while in the bathroom to avoid the swelling of the blood vessels. Those affected should also try to wash the affected area with baby wipes for a further cleaning. The pregnant woman should consult with the doctor or a pharmacist who will be able to suggest some topical medications that will alleviate the pain. Many effective treatments are available from the pharmacy, but these should be used with permission of the doctor during pregnancy. These treatments will provide relief for the pain and suffering. Hemorrhoids can be painful and annoying, but pregnant women should be encouraged by the available treatments.

I'm glad I found your site. This is a subject that many people are too embarrassed to talk about and suffer from in silence. During pregnancy women encounter new experiences some of which can be painful and terrifying.
